COVID-19 update Sept. 17: Five coronavirus deaths in H’ville during the past week

Sept. 17. UDATED. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services is reporting 7,905 new cases of the coronavirus statewide.

The data for today is somewhat higher because of technical issues with the NC COVID reporting system Yesterday’s total of 7,160 new cases was somewhat lower because of the same issues.

Deaths

There were 95 new deaths due to COVID statewide, including another one in Huntersville.

There have been five COVID-related deaths in Huntersville during the past week.

UPDATE: New COVID deaths were reported by the NCDHHS in Hunterssville last Friday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and today.

There were no COVID deaths reported in Huntersville during the seven weeks between June 18 to Aug. 12.

Hospitalizations

Hospitalizations eased to 3,573 statewide, from 3,620 yesterday.

Testing

Positive tests are running at 9.7 percent statewide, down from 11 percent.

Mecklenburg

In Mecklenburg County, there were 637 new cases from Thursday to today. There were 11 new COVID deaths reported in the county, including the new death reported today in Huntersville. The 14-day positive test rate countywide is 11.5 percent.

North Mecklenburg (change from Thursday)

Cornelius: 12 new cases, 3,707 cumulative total, 28 deaths cumulative total.

Davidson: 9 new cases, 2,163 cumulative total, 15 deaths cumulative total.

Huntersville: 27 new cases, 8,042 cumulative total, 63 deaths cumulative total.
