COVID-19 update: Lottery is one week away

June 16. With the first of the North Carolina vaccination lotteries one week away, the NC Dept. of Health & Human Services is reporting a modest increase in vaccinations statewide. A total of 51 percent of the adult population is fully vaccinated; 55 percent are partially vaccinated.

That said, there is still time for North Carolinians to get vaccinated to enter the million-dollar lottery. Click here for rules.

North Carolinians 18 and over who have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine will be automatically entered into four drawings for a chance to win a $1 million cash prize. Click here for lottery details.

New cases, deaths

The NCDHHS Wednesday reported 333 new COVID-19 cases statewide and 18 new deaths attributable to the coronavirus.

Positivity rate

The positive test rate is 2.3 percent statewide.

Hospitalizations

Hospitalizations are at 495 statewide, down from 510 yesterday.

Mecklenburg County

Between Wednesday and today in Mecklenburg County, there were 35 new coronavirus cases reported. The NCDHHS downwardly revised the death total due to COVID—from 973 yesterday to 972 today.

North Mecklenburg (change from Tuesday to Wednesday)

Cornelius: 0 new cases, 2,885 cumulative; 25 deaths total.

Davidson: 1 new case, 1,695 cumulative; 15 deaths total.

Huntersville: 6 new cases, 6,052 cumulative; 53 deaths total.
