COVID-19 update June 8: Data continues to improve

June 8. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services coronavirus report has good news from Mecklenburg County: No new deaths from COVID-19, no new cases in North Meck and a positive test rate of just 2.6 percent countywide, a new low.

There were 299 new cases of the coronavirus statewide, down from 359 new cases yesterday.

Hospitalizations

Hospitalizations are at 568, slightly above yesterday’s 546, but still under 600.

Indeed, over the past month hospitalizations ranged from the low 1,000s to the low 600s last week.

Deaths statewide

There were 13 COVID-related deaths in North Carolina.

Vaccinations

The state is still reporting that 50 percent of the adult population is fully vaccinated. It’s been stuck at 50 percent since Friday.

North Mecklenburg (change from Monday to today)

Cornelius: 1 less case (NCDHHS revision), 2,874 cumulative; 25 deaths total.

Davidson: 0 new cases, 1,692 cumulative; 15 deaths total.

Huntersville: 0 new cases, 6,033 cumulative; 53 deaths total.
