COVID-19 positive testing at 7.1% in NC; 4.3% in Mecklenburg

Oct. 13. The NC Dept. of Health and Human Services today reported 1,734 new cases of COVID-19 statewide, for a total of 234,481 cases statewide since the outbreak began in March. Click here to review the latest COVID-19 data on a state and local level.

Tests, meanwhile, are coming back positive at the rate of 7.1 percent statewide. The goal is less than 5 percent. Mecklenburg County is doing much better: Positive tests are coming back at the rate of 4.3 percent.

There were 43 new deaths statewide in today’s report for a total of 3,816 North Carolinians who have died.

Hospitalizations were at 1,103 statewide, according to today’s NCDHHS report. On Oct. 1 939 North Carolinians were hospitalized due to COVID-19.

Mecklenburg

Cumulative COVID-19 cases: 30,670 county-wide.

Mecklenburg deaths: 367 cumulative, up from 359 Oct. 1.

North Mecklenburg

Cornelius: 609 cases total, up from 543 Oct. 1; 16 deaths total.

Davidson: 324 cases total, up from 305 Oct. 1; 6 deaths total.

Huntersville: 1,133 cases total, up from 996 Oct. 1; 13 deaths total.
