Cornelius man arrested in child exploitation investigation

Nov. 19. Aaron Alvin Schaller, 28, was arrested earlier this week following an investigation by Cornelius Police Department detectives assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

On Oct. 25, officers executed a search warrant at 22415 Market St. in Cornelius after receiving a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reporting activity linked to online child sexual abuse material. Electronic devices were seized during the search and forensically analyzed by the department.

The investigation led to an arrest warrant charging Schaller with five counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and five counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He was arrested Monday by Concord Police Department officers and taken to the Cabarrus County Jail under a $500,000 bond.

The Cornelius Police Department urges anyone with information regarding the exploitation or abuse of minors to call 704-892-7773 or submit an anonymous tip to North Mecklenburg Crime Stoppers at 704-896-7867 or through its website.
