Aug. 27. The town of Cornelius has upgraded its 911 system, putting it among the most advanced in North Carolina.
The update means the 911 center now has backup systems to keep it running no matter what. If the main internet connection goes down, calls will automatically switch over to a private 5G network so emergencies can still be handled without delay.
“This upgrade makes sure our community is always connected to 911 when it’s needed most,” said Daniel Little, Director of Emergency Communications.
The new system is also built to handle future technology, like allowing people to send texts, videos, and other important information to first responders.
Cornelius leaders say they are committed to keeping residents, businesses, and visitors safe by continuing to invest in top-notch public safety tools.
Excellent. You all do a great job and it is appreciated. Dispatchers/Call Takers are a pleasure to deal with (as are the responders)
