Dec. 19. The Town of Cornelius is launching a seven-week program called Cornelius 101 designed to educate residents about town operations.
The interactive program will include hands-on learning opportunities and discussions with representatives from each town department, including planning, parks and recreation, public works, and police and fire.
“Participants can expect to gain a deeper understanding of key topics, including how developments are approved, which major transportation projects are underway, and how the town is transitioning to a full-time fire department,” the town said in a statement.
Cornelius 101 begins Tuesday, Feb. 10, and will meet weekly through March 24. Classes will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. A tour of town facilities is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 14, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Sessions will take place at Town Hall and other locations, including the police department and fire station.
Participation is free, though online registration is capped at 20 participants. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and live, work, or own a business within Cornelius town limits.
