Construction site on W. Catawba back on track, with C-store, daycare coming

West Catawba Avenue opposite Nantz Road

May 28. The nine-acre parcel that was to be the new home for a 7-Eleven convenience store has been scraped bare, but Developer Evan Walton of Convenience Development Partners said a new convenience store is on board with a daycare operation as well.

Walton did not name the convenience store that’s replacing 7-Eleven.

The base infrastructure, including completing the Nantz Road connector and installing site stormwater facilities, is under way.

“They are also required to keep the site stabilized to limit erosion issues, and it appears they are working toward stabilization until they get further along with possible building construction,” according to Aaron Tucker, senior town planner.

The project, approved back in November 2018, includes a convenience store with gas pump and car wash, two commercial buildings totaling 9,400 square feet, and a 45,000 square foot office building.
