Canceled: Concert, discussion Feb. 25 provide perspective on gun violence

CANCELED [Update Jan. 20] Jan. 16. The “After Newtown” program has been canceled.

Music at St. Alban’s has canceled the Sunday, Feb. 25  afternoon of music and conversation featuring “After Newtown,” an original composition by Leonard Mark Lewis for euphonium and piano. Thomas Burge, euphonium, will be joined by Lewis on piano in this piece that was written to bring attention to and start a conversation about gun violence.

Newtown refers to the mass shooting Dec. 14, 2012 at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Ct. that left 26 people dead and two injured at the school.

After murdering his mother at their home, Adam Lanza fatally shot 20 children and six adults before taking his own life. It was one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history.
