Concerns about Antiquity surface; meeting set for April 30

April 28. While work continues on Antiquity’s retail center, some of its residents have raised concerns about the future design of the apartments being built nearby…so much so that an informational meeting has been scheduled for 6:30 pm Thursday at Town Hall.

“Based on the sketch I saw at our HOA annual meeting on March 31, it appears that the 300 new apartments being built will not be in three separate buildings, but rather one large C-shaped building which will dwarf the Harris Teeter,” said Norman Pierson, who lives on Playwrights Way in Antiquity. He brought his concerns to the attention of the Cornelius Town Board and town staff at the April 6 meeting.

Town Planning Director Wayne Herron says that the plans for Antiquity have indeed changed but there still will be three buildings. “Two are C shaped and back up to each other with a pool in the middle, while the third building is more V shaped.”

Herron said that developer Cam Finley will explain the changes April 30. Pierson will be there “to get some clarity on what is coming down the road for all of us.”
