Estimated Finish for West Catawba Retiming

Signal retiming on West Catawba Avenue is underway, with completion targeted by the end of December.

A spokesperson for the North Carolina Department of Transportation said the engineering firm overseeing the project is expected to observe traffic along the corridor this week and collect vehicle counts this week or next.

Using that data, engineers will adjust signal timings over the coming weeks for morning, midday and afternoon traffic, as well as peak traffic periods on weekends, the spokesperson said.

Because of ongoing road construction, occasional lane closures and other variables, including potential traffic accidents, engineers will continue monitoring the roadway and make additional adjustments as needed.

The spokesperson said the firm is “anticipating having this work completed before the holidays in December.”
