Christmas in Davidson, holiday parade are right around the corner

Christmas in Davidson

Nov. 16. The North Meck holiday parade—a local tradition for 41 years—starts to roll at 1 pm Dec. 2, starting at Griffith Street in Davidson and heading south into downtown Cornelius where it ends at Catawba Avenue a couple of hours later.

At the conclusion of the parade, the third Merry Main Street Tricycle Race takes place on Main Street in Davidson.

It’s all part of the classic Christmas in Davidson, which runs Nov. 30 to Dec. 2, from 6 pm to 9 pm all three evenings, complete with a light show, roving entertainment, a live nativity scene, artisan village and a children’s craft area.

Road closures

Main Street from Concord Road to Jackson Street will be closed starting at 5 pm each night for Christmas in Davidson.

For the North Meck Christmas parade, Main Street in Davidson and Cornelius will be closed during the afternoon.

Additionally in Davidson

North Meck Christmas Parade, with Santa

Griffith Street (from Beaty to North Main) will be closed from 10 am to 4 pm for the Christmas Parade. Look for detour signs to connecting roads to Hwy 115. Jackson Street will be closed at 10 am from Depot to N. Main Street. Watson Street will be closed at 10 am from Depot to Delburg.

Additionally in Cornelius

Catawba Avenue will be shut down prior to Hwy. 115 (intersection of Main Street), and tractor trailers will not be permitted east of Hwy. 21 on Catawba Avenue.
