Chabad of Lake Norman hosting Rosh Hashanah events

Sept. 18. Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, begins at sunset Monday, Sept. 22 and concludes after nightfall Sept. 24.

Chabad of Lake Norman will host a free community meal Monday at 7:30 p.m., featuring holiday favorites such as apples dipped in honey, challah, homemade brisket and more. No membership or affiliation is required.

Services will be held Monday at 6:30 p.m. Additional services are Tuesday and Wednesday at 10 a.m., with a children’s program at 11 a.m.

“We want everyone to have a place to go for the High Holidays. We have an open door for people to join our holiday services and community meals,” said Rabbi Chaim Greenberg, director of Chabad of Lake Norman. “This year, we’re entering the High Holidays with a prayer for a new year of strength, purpose and Jewish pride.”

For those who cannot attend services, a Shofar Family Experience will take place Sept. 23 at 5 p.m., featuring the sounding of the shofar, honey cake and Rosh Hashanah games.
