The National Weather Service says it will be seriously cold tonight: Temps will drop to 26 after only getting into the mid-40s today. A low pressure system over the Great Lakes sent unstable air south with snow showers in the mountains of North Carolina.
The breeze will make it feel even colder.
A Winter Storm Warning was in effect for higher elevations in most counties along the Tennessee/North Carolina border through noon Tuesday. Interestingly, Monday was the last day of the 2020 hurricane season.
It’s going to be clear and sunny here, with the lack of cloud cover helping temperatures drop below freezing tonight. Wednesday will be sunny, with a high near 51. Cold again Wednesday night, with a low around 28.
