First thing you do when you walk into work? Open and respond to emails. I currently have 294 unread emails out of 6,583 emails total.

Coffee, tea, or something stronger? Large decaf iced latte from Dunkin’ Donuts.

What part of your job would surprise people the most? As a developer, I’m like a quarterback. I lead teams involved with architects, engineers, contractors, leasing agents, project managers, advertisers, lawyers, accountants, property managers, etc.

What small decision eats up way more time than it should? What to have for dinner. Either cooking at home versus going out to 131 Main.

What’s always on your desk (besides a phone and computer)? Stacks and stacks of papers. Only I know where everything is.

Favorite quick lunch in town? Carrburritos.

Best advice you’ve ever gotten about business? From one of my mentors in my early days in San Diego with Oliver McMillan: “What we do is not brain surgery, but if you screw it up, it’ll be expensive. So don’t screw it up.”

A daily habit that keeps you sane? Exercise or work on a puzzle. Even if it’s 5-6 pieces a day, it’s important to take that time to relax and focus on something other than work. Also playing with Evie, my 5-pound Yorkie, is a good stress-reliever.

What’s the five-minute task you refuse to delegate? Checking voicemails.

What advice would you give to your 18-year-old self? Don’t be afraid to take risks, and don’t be afraid to ask for help.
