Black History Month Celebration set for Feb. 25

Feb. 16. The public is invited to join the Town of Cornelius Parks & Recreation Department, and the Smithville CommUNITY Coalition at the Cain Center for the Arts for the annual Black History Month Celebration on Saturday, Feb. 25.

The event will take place noon to 2 pm at the Cain Center for the Arts, 21348 Catawba Ave. This celebration is free and open to the public.

Attendees will hear guest speakers from the Smithville CommUNITY Coalition celebrating 50 years since the Smithville Community was annexed, live musical performances, along with children’s activities and refreshments.

Art exhibit

Works by Charlotte artist John R. Miles III are on display at the Cornelius Town Hall 8:30 am – 5 pm Monday-Friday.

Additional works by Miles will exhibited at the Cain Center from Tuesday, Feb. 21 through Tuesday, Feb. 28 and available for public viewing 10 am – 4 pm Tuesday-Friday.
