July 8. By Dave Yochum. Former Town Commissioner Denis Bilodeau has officially filed to run for mayor this fall, setting up a rematch between him and incumbent Woody Washam who plans to seek a fifth term this November.

He served three terms on the Town Board before losing to Washam by five votes two years ago.

Bilodeau said it is healthy to have competitive elections.

Quotable

“I am running because I believe it is time for a change and a significant number of citizens agree. I will  provide an agenda that reflects urgency and focus on the issues most important to the town,” Bilodeau said.

Incumbent Washam said he will file with the Mecklenburg Board of Elections later today.

Candidate filing for the municipal elections this fall opened Monday, July 7 and will run through Friday, July 18 at noon.
