DETCHEMENDY

Bebe J. Detchemendy, age 83, of Cornelius, NC passed away on January 16, 2015 at her home surrounded by friends and family members. She was a devoted wife, mother, and a long time member of St Therese Catholic Church. Bebe was a breast cancer survivor and her strong faith and engaging personality were known to all that knew her. Bebe and her husband lived in several states during her husbandʼs military and work career before moving to Lake Norman in Cornelius, NC in 1987. There was nothing she enjoyed more than viewing the serene waters of Lake Norman from her screened porch. Her favorite pastimes were square dancing, playing cards, and family trips to Ocean Isle Beach. She was born in Hamilton, OH and she graduated from Jewish Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati, OH. She was the daughter of late True Arnie Ward and Matilda Bruehing Ward.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years Francis “Dutch” Detchemendy; her daughter, Jean Detchemendy of Cornelius, NC; her son John and his wife Nagisa Detchemendy of St. Leonard’s, MD; her son Thomas and his wife Kathy Detchemendy of Knoxville, TN; her daughter Lee Ann Detchemendy of Bedford, VA; and five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
