Auto dealer on Town Board agenda tonight

April 1. By Dave Vieser. The Cornelius Town Board is expected to approve a request to amend the zoning on a three acre site at 18605 Statesville Road permitting the construction a 25,000 square foot Genesis auto sales and service dealership. The property is currently a paved vehicle sales parking area, part of the adjacent Modern Nissan dealership.

The town Planning Board had previously recommended approval of the project on March 11 with no negative public comments.

Genesis is Hyundai’s luxury car division.

Also on Monday, the commissioners are expected to approve an interlocal agreement with Mecklenburg County to use the facilities at Blythe Landing to promote boating safety and education.

The meeting, open to the public, will begin at 6:00 pm in Town Hall on Catawba Avenue. It will also be streamed on the town website: www.Cornelius.org.
