March 20. Billionaire David Tepper and Bank of America are making $1 million donations to major local healthcare companies to help fight COVID-19. Atrium Health Foundation and Novant Health Foundation will retain flexibility to respond to evolving and emerging needs.

The donations will be used across the Carolinas; the monies will be distributed by each system’s foundation.

Charlotte-based LendingTree and Charlotte City Council also committed a combined $2 million to the fund this week.

“During these unprecedented times, it’s uplifting to have generous donors like David Tepper step forward to ensure that our community has the very best healthcare services possible,” said Armando Chardiet, president of Atrium Health Foundation. “We’re all in this together and we’re extremely thankful for those in our community coming together during times like this.”
