Prospective vendors and performers can now apply to take part in one of Davidson’s annual holiday traditions.

The Town of Davidson opened applications this week for food vendors, artisan vendors and entertainers for Christmas in Davidson, the three-night festival that draws thousands of visitors to downtown each December.

This year’s event will take place Dec. 3-5 from 6-9 p.m. nightly. Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, on the Town Green with the arrival of Santa Claus and the annual tree-lighting ceremony.

Applications for all vendor categories and entertainers are due by 5 p.m. Oct. 1. The town expects to notify applicants of their acceptance by Oct. 15, with event assignments and participation information distributed by Nov. 1.

Food vendors must operate self-contained booths, obtain required Mecklenburg County health permits and provide their own equipment. Electricity is available for an additional fee.

Artisan vendors must supply their own white tents, tables and chairs. Tents must comply with local fire codes, and requests for electrical service must be made when applications are submitted.

Musicians, choirs, dance groups and other performers are also invited to apply. While performers are not charged a fee to participate, they also will not receive compensation. The town will provide professional sound and lighting equipment, including microphones, while performers are responsible for bringing their own instruments and other materials.
