Anti-toll parade-demonstration getting under way

Oct. 10. Exit 28 Ridiculousness, the free-flowing Facebook-driven anti-toll group, is holding a “Drive Against The I-77 Toll Lanes, Toll-Free Flag Car Parade” in Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson and Mooresville. Participants are meeting at Northcross Shopping Center near the Harris-Teeter at Exit 25 in Huntersville. They plan to leave by 11 am, and pass the major retail districts between Mooresville and Huntersville.

The parade-demonstration, which lasts until noon, will proceed on I-77 at 45 mph and at slightly lower than posted speeds on roads like Main Street and Catawba Avenue. With the parade getting under way at 11 and lunch planned in Birkdale at around noon, the parade could cross Catawba sometime after 11:30 or 11:45 am. That said, one never knows about traffic on I-77.

The parade will take place rain or shine.
