Amelia Williams, 15, will crown her successor at International United Miss Junior Teen in July

May 24. Amelia Williams, a 10th-grader at Hough High, is wrapping up her year as International United Miss Junior Teen. In July she goes to Orlando where she will spend the week working at the 2023 International pageant and crown her successor.

The 15-year-old first won the North Carolina state title in Charlotte January 2022 then competed for and won the International United Miss Junior Teen title in July of last year in Myrtle Beach.

Her mom, Rosaleen “Ros” Williams, says Amelia’s journey to this title was challenging. She has dealt with depression, anxiety and even high-functioning autism.

But she’s been open about her struggles and has been able to do some public speaking about it.

“She really has blown us away with how far she has come,” Ros says.

The Williams family, including dad James “Tank” Williams, lives in Robbins Park.
