Allyson Young passes away

Allyson Young, the sister of Cornelius photographer Deborah Young, passed away peacefully April 3 surrounded by family and friends. Born in South Ruislip, England to Margaret and Ronald Young, Allyson was the youngest of three children, and is survived by her mother Margaret (Jenkinson Young) Sampson and husband Ted Sampson; her sister Deborah and husband Rick Francken; and her brother Gregory Young, wife Lois and their three children, Mel, Natalie and Julia.  Allyson had the love and support of a large family including over 25 aunts and uncles, 30 cousins, nieces and nephews in the US, Canada and in England.

Allyson was a creative photo graphic artist who worked with Deborah at their studio in Cornelius.  Allyson bravely fought cancer for a year, receiving her treatment in Pennsylvania, while living with Greg and Lois in Zelienople.  Always awake for the sunrise, she found simple pleasures in her garden and her pets, taking each day as it came, and enjoying the sunsets.  A lover of water and wind, she enjoyed competitive sailing regattas all over the United States, sharing many trophies with her sailing crew.

Allyson’s kind and open spirit and passion for friends, the earth, and her animals was witnessed and shared with her dearest friends in Tennessee. She was blessed with deep spiritual bonds with those she touched. As a tribute to her memory and extension to her effort to share this love, charitable donations payable to the Elizabeth Mitchel Charitable Trust can be made to Camp Nakanawa, 1084 Camp Nkanawa Road, Crossville TN 38571.

A memorial service will be held April 13 in Pennsylvania. A Celebration of Life will be held in Lake Norman..
