Police Officer Fired After Internal Investigation

Former Cornelius police officer Edward Florentino was dismissed from the Cornelius Police Department Aug. 21 following an internal investigation.
The dismissal comes after the arrest of Florentino’s girlfriend, Mooresville police officer Elizabeth Snowman, who is accused of using the town of Mooresville’s Flock license plate reader system to track Florentino’s ex-wife.

In a statement, the Town of Cornelius said Florentino was dismissed for violating the department’s General Order 25, which outlines rules of conduct for department members. The town said the investigation found Florentino violated provisions related to unbecoming conduct and unsatisfactory performance.
The town provided no further comment, citing confidentiality laws governing employee personnel records.
In an interview with WSOC-TV, Florentino denied any involvement in or prior knowledge of Snowman’s alleged actions. He also said he was considering legal action against the Town of Cornelius.
Florentino was hired by the Cornelius Police Department in June.
