Cornelius Ranks Third-Priciest for One-Bedroom Rent

Cornelius ranks third among Charlotte-area cities for most expensive one-bedroom rental prices, with a median of $1,200 a month, according to Zumper’s Charlotte Metro Report.

The figure marked a 4.8% decline from a year earlier and a 5.5% drop from the previous month, the steepest monthly decrease among the cities tracked.

Charlotte, Rock Hill, Concord and Salisbury each saw two-bedroom rents rise year over year, even as their one-bedroom prices stayed flat or fell. Cornelius moved in the opposite direction, posting declines in both categories — its 10.3% drop in two-bedroom rent was the steepest of any city in the report, more than double its one-bedroom decline.

Charlotte led the rankings with a one-bedroom median of $1,460, down 1.4% from a year earlier. Mooresville followed at $1,320, down 1.5%. Rock Hill, South Carolina, and Concord rounded out the top five at $1,150 and $1,130 respectively, both flat year over year.

Gastonia’s one-bedroom median stood at $1,030, down 6.4% annually, while Statesville posted the lowest price at $1,000, reflecting an 11.5% year-over-year drop. Salisbury’s median held at $950, unchanged from the previous year.
