Two New Eateries Opening in Sadler Square

Sadler Square is adding two new popular businesses to its recently-renovated retail complex on Griffith Street near downtown Davidson.
Charlotte-based Harriet’s Hamburgers, known for its smash burgers and “Beef Butter Fries,” is opening its fifth location on July 3 with indoor seating for 38 guests and a large outdoor patio.
Harriet’s has built a following around a menu focused on all-natural Angus beef, house-made sauces, artisan cheeses and buns, and fries cooked in beef tallow rather than seed oils.
Menu items include The OG Hamburger, topped with white American cheese, pickles, onions and Simple Sauce; The Royale, featuring lettuce, tomato and Good Good Sauce; and the Jucy Lucy, a burger stuffed with melted cheese. The restaurant also serves cheese curds, craft sodas, agua frescas, frosé and Lucy’s Lager beer.
Co-owner Joe Haubenhofer said the area’s emphasis on community and support for local businesses made it an attractive location for the growing brand.
New ice cream shop
Seemingly Overzealous, an ice cream shop specializing in dairy-, egg- and gluten-free treats, will open in the space next to Harriet’s on July 1.
Customers can expect 12 to 16 rotating flavors, including cookies-and-cream favorite “Can’t All Be Cookie,” mint chip flavor “Big Mint City Fan” and “Prime Peepin,” an ube cheesecake creation. The made-from-scratch ice cream is designed to accommodate those with dairy, egg and gluten allergies while maintaining the rich texture associated with traditional ice cream.
In addition to scoops, the shop will offer gluten-free waffle cones, ice cream sandwiches, cakes and pints. Plans also call for the addition of milkshakes, ice cream flights and expanded baked goods later this year.
The new shop will feature indoor and outdoor seating, colorful décor and a mural by Esther Moorehead. The store will be open seven days a week.
