The town will hold its annual Memorial Day program on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Town Hall to honor U.S. military members who died in service to our nation.

The free public event, presented in partnership with American Legion Post 86, will feature a formal ceremony including remarks from local officials, a musical performance by the N.C. Youth Orchestra, and a wreath-laying in remembrance of the fallen.

Brad Borders, a retired U.S. Army chaplain, will serve as keynote speaker. Light refreshments will be served after the ceremony, courtesy of the Exchange Club of North Mecklenburg.

Residents are encouraged to arrive early for the program, which brings together veterans, families and community members for a period of reflection. Organizers said the observance is designed to emphasize gratitude, unity and remembrance while recognizing the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces.

The program will include participation from veterans’ groups and community representatives, continuing a longstanding tradition in Cornelius of marking Memorial Day with a civic ceremony.
