By Ryan Moxon — Here is our weekly roundup of scores for the Hough Huskies spring sports teams.

Volleyball: Hough lost its bid for the school’s first state championship in a rematch of last year’s title game against West Forsyth. The 27-0 Titans swept the Huskies 25-19, 25-14, 25-19. Hough senior Colten Short was named MVP of the match.

Track and field: Senior Drew Johnson took silver in the boys 800 meters and senior Aiden Malloy set a new Hough record in the 3,200 meters with a time of 9:39.48, finishing eighth in the final heat. The boys 4×400 meter relay team of sophomore Kylan Bright, and seniors Luke Patton, Christian Carter and Drew Johnson, took gold in a controversial finish. The team from Mallard Creek crossed the finish line first but was disqualified for unsportsmanlike conduct in a moment that generated discussion in the national sports media.

Boys lacrosse: Top-seeded Hough was upset in the third round of the playoffs by fourth-seeded Green Level, which won the game in the final minutes by a score of 11-10. The Huskies advanced past the second round last Friday with an 18-8 victory over Myers Park.

Girls lacrosse: Hough lost 16-6 to Myers Park in the second round of the playoffs.
