Weekend weather: snow in the forecast

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued until Sunday calling for heavy snow and total accumulations between four and seven inches in our area, with wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour. If you enjoyed having your kids home from school last week, well, prepare yourselves for a potential repeat.

Friday: Cloudy, with a high near 40. Calm wind becoming east northeast around 6 mph in the morning. Tonight a 40 percent chance of snow, mainly after 1am. Patchy fog after 4am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 19. Northeast wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Saturday: Snow. Patchy fog. High near 23. Northeast wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible. Saturday night a 50 percent chance of snow, mainly before midnight. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 12. Wind chill values as low as -1. North wind 14 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 33. Northwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.

Next week: Mostly sunny but cold temperatures stick around.
