Jan. 21 – The pre-storm shopping spree has not officially begun but is slowly picking up at Cornelius grocery stores. Checkout lines were fully staffed, with wait times remaining relatively normal.

At Harris Teeter at the Peninsula, bottled water, eggs, and milk were running low, though the bread aisle remained well stocked. Most other aisles appeared fully stocked.

Publix saw heavier-than-normal foot traffic Wednesday afternoon, though shelves were mostly full, with the exception of the water aisle. Much of the crowd appeared to be shoppers taking advantage of the weekly senior discount day.

Two stockers were overheard emerging from the back:
“Do we need more water?” one asked.
“We need more of everything,” the other replied.

Food Lion was also a bit busier than usual, but all items except water were well stocked.

At the ABC Store on Highway 21, the inventory of Tito’s vodka — often an early indicator of a sales rush — appeared normal.
