Dec. 9. The Town of Cornelius is inviting residents to Town Hall tonight to share feedback on walking and biking safety as it prepares a new Bike and Pedestrian Plan.
The public is encouraged to drop in from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Woody Washam Community Room to provide ideas and input on bike and pedestrian improvements. Town staff and consultants from the McAdams Group will be available to gather information, help lead discussions and answer questions.
Feedback from the meeting will be used by consultants and town staff to develop a new master plan that will help set priorities for future bike and pedestrian facilities. Those improvements may include new or upgraded sidewalks and multi-use paths, as well as bicycle enhancements such as bike lanes, shared-lane markings and signed bike routes.
The plan will also outline guidelines on locations for new crosswalks and safety treatments.
An additional public meeting is planned for the spring to gather feedback on the staff’s recommendations before the plan is presented to the Town Board.
