Christmas in Davidson begins tonight

Dec. 4. Every December, Main Street in Davidson transforms into the holiday wonderland known as Christmas in Davidson — a tradition that welcomes locals and visitors to stroll through a festive downtown filled with lights, music and community cheer. This year, the festivities are scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 4, through Saturday, Dec. 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. each night.

Visitors can expect a mix of holiday activities, including the tree-lighting ceremony with Santa’s arrival on opening night, a live nativity scene, roaming carolers and entertainers, artisan shopping, children’s crafts and carriage rides. Attendees can also enjoy festive food, local restaurant offerings and a chance to browse unique gifts in the holiday market.

The celebration includes the 43rd annual North Mecklenburg Holiday Parade on Saturday at 1 p.m. The parade follows a roughly two-mile route that begins on Davidson’s Main Street and ends in downtown Cornelius.

Immediately following the parade is the Merry Main Street Tricycle Race, where four-person teams race through an obstacle course in front of the Town Green.
