Nov. 18. The turf fields at Bailey Road Park are closed for renovations until mid-February.

Under an agreement approved by the town board in October, Geosurfaces Southeast of Mooresville will remove and dispose of the existing turf and install new turf at a cost of $756,000. The new fields will carry a 10-year warranty.

The cost will be offset under an agreement with the Charlotte Independence Soccer Club, which operates the town’s recreational soccer program.

The fields, originally installed in 2014, show substantial wear and tear. The existing rubber crumb will be saved and reused, which will help reduce the cost of the new installation.
