Sept. 30. The Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce will host an election candidate forum tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Cornelius Town Hall. All three mayoral candidates and all six candidates for the town board are expected to attend.
“This two-hour session provides residents with the opportunity to hear directly from candidates, learn about their positions, and submit written questions on issues that matter most to our community,” the chamber said in a statement.
Mayoral candidates include incumbent Woody Washam, former mayor pro tem Denis Bilodeau and newcomer Kenny Campbell. The 2023 mayoral race was decided by just five votes, with Washam narrowly defeating Bilodeau.
Six candidates are seeking seats on the town board: incumbents Susan Johnson, Michael Osborne, Todd Sansbury and Robert Carney, along with former board commissioner Colin Furcht and newcomer Michael DeVoney.
