Weekender: Dog Show and Bailey’s Glen Artisan Market

Sept. 25. Here’s a look at some exciting things happening this weekend around Lake Norman. Check event links for any last-minute updates or changes. ‘Tawba Walk on Saturday has been canceled due to the weather forecast.

Friday, Sept. 26

River Rock at Alexander Farms Fall Festival

4-6pm | Sept. 26. Inaugural event with fall decor, bluegrass band, food carts, drink carts and vendors, as well as fun fall games and a pie making contest. River Rock at Alexander Farms, Cornelius.

Live Under the Oaks

6-8 pm | Sept. 26. Live entertainment. Bring your chairs or blankets. The Plaza, Birkdale Village, Huntersville.

Hells Bells

8 pm – midnight | Sept. 26. AC/DC tribute. $10 advance; $15 at the door. BoatYard Lake Norman, 18418 Statesville Rd., Cornelius.

Saturday, Sept. 27

Oktoberfest – King Canary

All day | Sept. 27. Live music in the afternoon, Stein Holding Competitions, and an Oktoberfest Food Favorites from Marlee Jean’s Raw Bar & Kitchen. King Canary, 121 Depot St, Davidson.

Oktoberfest – Primal Brewery

Sept. 27. Live music from the North Carolina Polka Time Allstars. Primal Brewery, 16432 Old Statesville Road, Huntersville.

Bailey’s Glen Artisan Market

10am-2pm | Sept. 27. Potters, woodworkers, photographers, gardeners and crafters of all types present their work. Bailey’s Glen Clubhouse.

Catherine M. Wilson Dedication

10:30-11:30am | Sept. 27. Ceremony to rename 301 Billingsley Road in honor of Catherine M. Wilson, the first African American program administrator at the Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services. RSVP via the link no later than Monday, Sept. 22.

‘Tawba Walk Arts & Music Festival ** Canceled due to weather

2-8 pm | Sept. 27. Live music on two stages, local artists and crafters, craft beer and food trucks, kids zone, petting zoo. Oak Street Mill, Town Hall and Catawba Avenue in downtown Cornelius.

Concert on the Green

6-8 pm |  Sept. 27. Davidson College Symphony & Jazz Ensemble. Town Green, downtown Davidson.

Davidson Farmers Market

9 am – noon | every Saturday through Thanksgiving. Produce, flowers, meat and baked goods.Rain or shine. No pets. 120 S. Main St., Davidson, next to Town Hall between Main and Jackson streets.

Shred Event

10 am – noon | Sept. 27. Update: Reluctantly, we have had to postpone our Shred Event for Sept. 27 due to rain and flash flood warnings, which make it unsafe to continue. We are so sorry for the inconvenience. We will reschedule and share the new date as soon as it is secured!  – Thank you, Susan Johnson + Associates

Bring your old documents, confidential files and no longer-needed important paperwork to the free shred event sponsored by Susan Johnson + Associates. Paper, folders, hanging folders, paperclips, elastics, staples and metal clips can all be shredded. Items such as batteries, 3 ring binders, cardboard boxes and any other non-recyclable items are not allowed. Keller Williams Parking Area, 19721 Bethel Church Rd., Cornelius.

Sunday, Sept. 28

25th Annual All American Dog Show

2-5 pm | Sept. 28. Cornelius’ most beloved dog-friendly tradition: the All American Dog Show. Hundreds of dog lovers and their furry best friends will gather for an afternoon filled with pet-centric vendors, tasty concessions, and plenty of lighthearted contests. $6 Early Bird Registration; $10 on site. Additional contests $3 each. Robbins Park.

Louis Sloan House Tour

4-6pm | Sept. 28. Davidson Historical Society and Rachel Workman lead a tour of the historic Louise Sloan House, a Queen Anne style cottage built around 1900. 230 South Main Street in downtown Davidson.

North Carolina Baroque Orchestra

3pm | Sept. 28. North Carolina Baroque Orchestra presents Autumn Leaves and the music of Vivaldi, Bach and Telemann to celebrate the fall season. Free concert but donations are appreciated. St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, 164 Fairview Rd., Mooresville.
