July 7. The American Red Cross is conducting a summer-long blood drive in north Mecklenburg. According to the organization, severe summer weather can have a negative impact on the ability to collect blood and platelets, so scheduling and keeping donation appointments are crucial this month to ensure blood products are constantly available.
Those interested in donating can schedule appointments today at the Huntersville Blood Donation Center at 9800 Kincey Ave, Suite 110, as well as the CVS Pharmacy at 127 South Main Street in Davidson. The blood drive also visits Cornelius on July 26th at YogaSix Cornelius located at 20619 Torrence Chapel Rd.
While Type O blood is a priority all blood types are needed, and donors who don’t know their blood type can learn it after donation. Appointments are available at RedCrossBlood.org, by calling 1-800-RED CROSS or by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App.
All individuals making a donation prior to July 14th will receive an exclusive pair of Red Cross x goodr sunglasses, while supplies last.
