$8,000 final tally for Big Day at the Lake concert

Oct. 19. A total of $8,000 was raised for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolinas at a Big Day at the Lake lakefront concert put on by Stormin’ Norman LKN in September.

More than 75 boats anchored off a home in Island Forest for a two-hour rock concert. Big Day at the Lake supports BBBS, a non-profit which provides mentors for children who are at risk.

The classic rock band performed facing Lake Norman in the back of a home in the Island Forest neighborhood with boaters socially distancing.

Over the years, Big Day at the Lake, in addition to providing a full day of fun on Lake Norman for kids in BBBS, has raised more than $1.4 million for the Charlotte-based non-profit. This year’s total is approaching $75,000.

Members of Stormin’ Norman, in addition to donating their performance, contributed more than $1,000.

Stormin’ Norman LKN classic rock band was formed by combining two local bands, Mid Life Crisis and the Pomolas.
