760 Craft Works has cause to celebrate

760 Craft Works plans on adding an expanded outdoor space by late summer | Photos by Jason Benavides

May 3. By Jason Benavides. 760 Craft Works is celebrating their one year anniversary this Saturday, May 4 by hosting Lagerfest. In a year’s time the Huntersville brewery has brewed 65 batches and released 44 different beers all from one prime location.

Wagner Ramsey

President and co-founder Wagner Ramsey of Cornelius attributes the success amidst a hectic year to that location. 760 occupies the old Huntersville Police station in the heart of downtown and also sits at the head of the Huntersville Downtown Greenway.

Foot traffic will only increase as the neighboring 186 unit Holbrook at Huntersville Town Center Apartments are completed.

Future plans

Another factor in 760’s longevity is the family friendly atmosphere which they plan to lean into even more. An expanded outdoor space is in the works utilizing existing green space behind the building away from a busy Gilead Road.

The current proposal is waiting on the Town of Huntersville approval and will hopefully debut late summer.

Lagerfest lineup

760 Craft Works head brewer, Brent Myers has a passion for lagers and data shows 50% of sales in the LKN area are lagers. A bit surprising as Hazy IPA’s make up 70% of sales in Charlotte.

Lagers can also take up to seven weeks to produce and the delicate flavor profiles don’t leave much to hide. “You’re just out there naked,” says Myers.

Despite the intricacies of a lager, four different breweries took up the challenge and will release their collaborations with 760 Craft Works at Lagerfest on Saturday.

Lagerfest is this Saturday, May 4

The lineup includes Resident Culture which already worked with 760 to bring the double hazy IPA Big Daddy Wagz to life in honor of co-founder Wagner Ramsey’s birthday. This time they’ll present a New Zealand Pilsner featuring hops from…well, New Zealand.

Town Brewing will debut a smoked Helles lager, Salud Cerverceria will present a rice lager with green tea and Jasmine and King Canary will present a Maibock/Helles Bock.

Heist Brewery and Wooden Robot will also be on site to help celebrate.

The all day celebration on Saturday will bring together the craft beer community and food trucks will set up at 1 pm, live music will play until 9 pm and of course, there will be beer.
