Strip shopping center sells

Turnberry Place will face a new shopping center opposite W. Catawba

June 6. Turnberry Place, the strip shopping center that is home to Matt’s Chicago Dogs, has sold for $3.5 million. Ziff Properties, based in Mount Pleasant, SC, bought the property from Turnberry Equities in Charlotte.

The property was the home of Sushi at the Lake as well as the old Mail Boxes Etc. franchise, owned and operated by the late John Kurti. Back in its day, it was one of the busiest MBE stores in the country,

It is also across West Catawba from a new shopping center planned on 11 acres backing up to Knox Road. Charter Cornelius plans five commercial buildings comprising a total of 48,225 square feet in “Catawba at Knox.” Years ago it was earmarked for a Food Lion store.

Ziff Properties saw the opportunity. “Turnberry Place is a perfect fit for our portfolio and our team of leasing and management experts. We recently sold an asset in the Charlotte MSA and are happy to acquire another,” said Christian Chamblee, director of acquisitions.

Ziff specializes in the development, acquisition and management of commercial properties in the Southeastern United States. The company has purchased more than 6 million square feet of commercial property, and has more than 500 commercial tenants.
