Jay's at the Lake hosts Poker Run
May 17 On Saturday, June 8 at 11 a.m., Jay’s at the Lake will host its 6th Annual Poker Run benefitting St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Participating bars include J&J Tavern, Twin Oaks, Sidelines Bar & Grill, Korner Pub and, finally, Jay’s at the Lake. May 2 — The Cornelius Art Center is hosting Coffee, Croissants and Crafts. The event is targeted for seniors interested in a morning of fun, food and art. It’s lead by CAP instructor Brooke Powell. 'Altered' premiers at the Cornelius Art Center on Earth Day
April 16 - Altered will be on display at the Cornelius Arts Center from April 22to June 21. The show premiers on Earth Day. Educators are encouraged to arrange tours of this exhibit with their students. Tours can be customized to connect to curricula and can include hands-on activities. A reception with the artists will include refreshments and live music on May 31st from 6 to 9 p.m. For more information, please call the Cornelius Arts Center at 704-896-8823.
Altered is a celebration and thoughtful exploration of four artists who transform found and often discarded objects into powerful, "upcycled" art. Amy Bagwell, Andrea Vail, Jessica Naples and Laurie Schorr resurrect ordinary objects into beautiful new forms that transcend their original purpose and meaning.
Rotary Club of North Mecklenburg hosts Spring golf tournament
April 15 The Rotary Club of North Mecklenburg is hosting it's Spring Charity Golf Tournament on Monday, May 6 at 1 p.m. The tournament is held at River Run Country Club in Davidson, NC. The tournament costs $100 per golfer and includes 18 holes of golf with a cart. The price also includes a box lunch, beverages, a dinner banquet, goodie bags and prizes awarded. Cornelius Historic Preservation Commission rearranges meeting times
(March 15) Members of the Cornelius Historic Preservation Commission will hold a special meeting on March 15th to discuss efforts related to the Commission’s strategic plan. The meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. Meanwhile, the regularly scheduled March 28th meeting has been moved to March 21st. It will begin at 5:30 p.m.
N. Meck Republican Women to host presentation on I-77 toll lanes
The North Mecklenburg Republican Women will host a presentation Dec. 11 for the public to learn about plans to widen I-77 via two toll lanes from the Brookshire exit in Charlotte to Exit 36 in Mooresville.
Guests will have the opportunity to hear about the status of the decision making and planning and to ask questions about this change to I-77 from Charlotte to Mooresville.
